May Projects

I’m so blessed to have Twinkie spending the day with me on a chair in the living room. I just dropped Hannah off at her work. Sarah and Rachel are out, Mary and Joe are upstairs, and Bobby is napping in his study. The living room clock is chugging away. Other than that it’s quiet. It’s conducive to writing.

I’ve dipped my toes into gathering photos for my fifth graduation slideshow. This one is for my daughter, Hannah. She’ll be graduating at the beginning of June, but I’m allowing myself until her party at the end of June to finish it. (Pre-prom pics)

These slideshows are very time-consuming. They cover 18 years of life, and each one seems to have a longer running time than the previous one. (Think 30-45 minutes.) I’ve been feeling overwhelmed everytime I think of it, so making myself start has taken some effort. My digital photos are not organized and the worst thing is that 2008, the year Hannah was born, is missing. And my father, the best of the amateur photographers I know, has no pictures from that year. We have an old slideshow of Hannah’s first three years that Matthew and I made her when she was three. But where did those 2008 pictures go?

Another project I began recently was to create a summer capsule wardrobe. (I first did this in 2018. I was trying to simplify my wardrobe, while at the same time looking more put together. Let’s face it…wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and sneakers everyday would be the simplest.) I felt the urge to do this on Mother’s Day. I bought a Hot Climate capsule wardrobe e-book. Then I went online shopping for some of the linked items. I really liked a few of the ones I purchased, but there were others I didn’t like at all; so this week I went out to actual stores to return items. I also shopped for sandals.

I have been thinking about my motivation for doing this. Was I procrastinating the slideshow project? Is it just that time of year? We did have some 90 degrees days… I will share more on this in my next post.
